monkey brain

Ikväll spelade vi in ett litet tv-inslag på en bar några kvarter bort, med tjejen som sjöng pandasången! Den kan för övrigt med fördel kollas in här - klicka på "manda" i låtlistan och föreställ er en stor gungande papier maché-panda, så vet ni också hur piñatafesten var... Anyway, rolig fest ikväll, men Elisabeth - som hon heter - hade ingen mic med sig, så vi hookade upp vår trådlösa mikrofon till henne; sen stod hon på scen och gjorde en ruggigt grym "purple rain" in i den lilla myggan (de kallas så, trådlösa små mikrofoner som man knäpper fast på skjortkragen. inte sådär jätterockigt att sjunga in i en sån, men nöden har ingen... nöd? vad säger man? jag minns inte hur uttrycket går nu. whatever...).


anyway, mycket konstigt. rolig afton men dåligt material, tror jag - brist på ljus i lokalen, ingen mygga längre (den var ju på scen och inkopplad i PA:t, haha!) - men fullt med intressanta människor. Bland annat en kanadensisk serietecknare som heter Naomi. Hon och jag hade en "konversation" som - ingen överdrift - gick såhär:

INT. BAR - EVENING.

The DJ is playing a Grace Jones song. GABRIEL (29) sits at a table with NAOMI (25).

GABRIEL
So... so what do you do?

NAOMI
I'm a cartoonist. I draw a cartoon about genetically modified organisms. It's based on a man who has his brain controlled by a monkey. But that's true, that's not a cartoon.

GABRIEL
Oh..?

NAOMI
True: A monkey can control your brain. Not true: Your brain can be absolutely controlled by a monkey!

Gabriel looks confused and dumb.

GABRIEL
Yeah...?

NAOMI
True: A man was mugged in the 70's and now has a monkey on top of his head. Not true: He had a donor card in his pocket. True: He donated organs. True: He has a monkey and he can control the monkey's bionic arms. Not true: any bionic limbs can be controlled!

GABRIEL
öööhhh...

NAOMI
(faster)
True: Waves were created - CREATED - in labs all over Europe and Asia! True: Waves can be controlled by scientists who--

GABRIEL
...I need to get--

NAOMI
(not listening)
True: Waves can be measured and bind people together! Not true: All people can be bound by waves. True: A man controls a monkey through waves. He also monitors a vast system of surveillance cameras. Not true: The monkey controls the cameras. True: The man CONTROLS the monkey to CONTROL the cameras!

GABRIEL
--ehh... a beer... maybe need to check my came--

NAOMI
(insanely fast)
TRUE: Tesla put spheres on towers to send electricity through the air, to CREATE electricity out of air! But he was fighting with that other guy, who created electricity through wires... you know, that guy!

GABRIEL
Heehh?

NAOMI
(irritated)
That guy! It starts with a "B". Tesla was fighting with him about how to distribute electricity, and the other guy, the one with a "B" won. He flew a kite! He distributed electricity with a kite!

GABRIEL
...Ben Franklin...?

NAOMI
Yes!!!

GABRIEL
...But he lived in like the 18th century... Tesla came way later...

NAOMI
No, yes, but Tesla worked with AIR! He wanted to use WAVES to send electricity. But then he lost all his money at the world fair. And now we can control a monkey with our BRAIN!

She waves her hands in the air, excitedly, eyes wide open.

GABRIEL
(frightened)
I have to go now and do... stuff...

Sen kom Ira och blev indragen, och vi fick höra ungefär 600 till "sant"/"falskt"-påståenden om apor, robotarmar och elektricitetsdistribution. Jag vill verkligen se hennes serie!

Jag avslutar genom att helt byta ämne och presentera... ffffrrrrrrrrrrrrr... en... banan.


En konstnär från Köln går runt och målar bananer utanför gallerier han tycker om, över hela Europa, som en sorts "mark of approval". Den här sitter på ett galleri längre ner på vår gata. Ser man en banan så vet man att nån lodis från Köln gillar vad som finns i det bananmarkerade huset. Och det är ju alltid bra att veta.
