GABRIEL (28) is walking to his room. Behind him walks two persons, a YOUNG AMERICAN MAN (24) and a YOUNG GERMAN WOMAN (26). Gabriel catches the last snippets of their conversation.

YOUNG MAN

...and the waters were totally infested with piranhas!

YOUNG WOMAN

Mhm.

YOUNG MAN
You know that's spelled with a 'v', right?

YOUNG WOMAN
What?

YOUNG MAN
Infested. It's spelled with a 'v', not an 'f'.

The woman laughs for a second, assuming the young man is joking. He is clearly not.

YOUNG MAN (cont.)
In-v-ested.

YOUNG WOMAN
No... infested. With an 'f'.

YOUNG MAN
No, the 'v' is silent.

YOUNG WOMAN (patiently)
No... invested is a different word. Infested is spelled with an 'f', and it is not silent. Listen: in-Fes-ted.

YOUNG MAN
Okay, whatever, no big deal. Just trust me: the 'v' is silent.

They disappear around a corner. Gabriel enters his room.
